Through its agreement with Jackpot Systems, Okto's solution will ‘provide a more seamless, secure, and convenient way for users to pay and play,’ according to the company.

Nacho Frade, Commercial Director & Country Manager Spain at Okto, said: “We are pleased to bring our cashless payment solution to the gaming industry in Madrid.

“This is a significant milestone for us, and we believe it is a clear indication that electronic payments in the retail gaming industry are here to stay. We look forward to working with our operator partners to provide them with the tools they need to offer a digital-savvy, safe and frictionless payment experience for their customers.”

Elsewhere within the sector, Sightline Payments has supplied the data for a new report by the University of Nevada and the Las Vegas International Gaming Institute on problem gambling.

The data was gathered from gambling payment companies,Casino games including almost 100 million individual transactions from across a year’s worth of activity.

The payment behaviour was analysed on several factors, including the frequency, amount, intensity and variability of transactions.

88% of players showed no behaviour that correlated with problem gambling; however, 12% of them were found to exhibit unsustainable and harmful behaviour.

Dr Kasra Ghaharian, Senior Research Fellow at IGI, said: “As digital payments have helped fuel the immense growth of online sports betting and online casino, understanding how digital transaction data can identify potentially harmful behaviours is critical for helping people wager responsibly."
